Please tell us a little about yourself.
I’m a very happy 50-something gal living in Canada, working my way through life as we know it. (My blog readers and social media followers are mainly from the USA.) Every day I live with the full intention of finding joy in this crazy world. I have an obsession with squirrels, sloths and T-Rex dinosaurs. And of course pets.
Why did you decide to start a blog? What do you enjoy about blogging?
I had first started off as The Pet Book Lady, as I had an online printing business and I was encouraging people to write books about their pets. Eventually I left the printing business and changed my blog name to The Pet Blog Lady, as I had fallen in love with blogging. And animals of all sorts are my passion! For me, blogging is a very creative outlet. And it’s fun to learn the ins and outs of how to put a quality post together. I like the challenge for sure.
What type of flooring is good for homes with pets?
For those pet parents with heavy shedding dogs, lino flooring is the way to go. Certainly better for paws to grip over tile flooring and much easier to maintain when there is a lot of dog hair in the house. For those with low or no shedding dogs or cats, carpets will work just fine. Area rugs that are easily moved are not the best for pet owners. At least that is what I have found. My dogs would hide their bones under there are would move them easily if doing zoomie zooms around the house (aka running top speed, usually in a wide circle motion).
Do you follow any other blogs for inspiration? If so, which ones?
I love to follow other bloggers since we’re kind of like one big cyber family. My top three favorite pet blogs are Fidose of Reality, Kol’s Notes and Paw Curious. They’re all very talented and creative writers and they have a wealth of knowledge to share.
Can you explain a recent project or post you’ve been working on?
I am very passionate about the incredible benefits that come from having a pet. The unmistakable bond that people have with their animals is undeniable. Studies have shown that loving and caring for an animal can mean better mental, physical and even spiritual health. All kinds of pets too. Not just cats and dogs. Birds, reptiles, goats, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, etc.
I’m starting to work on a series of posts that highlight people and their pets. The series is scheduled to start in May. Here is a post I did last year that covers the different type of therapeutic dogs in the USA: http://www.petbloglady.com/2016/11/companionanimalsorg-promoting-education-respect-and-understanding-for-americas-working-animals.html
I love being The Pet Blog Lady and if I can make someone smile and perhaps learn something, it makes my time here on planet Earth that much more rewarding.
